At July’s Brew Crew night we had Elizabeth Lor, Director of the Free To Shine organisation come in as part of the Shine & Dine campaign and share with the Crew some of the great work the not-for-profit is doing about human trafficking. It is a topic that is not often spoken about but is abundant particularly in the SE Asian region, with millions of people falling victim to it each year.
Free To Shine run an annual campaign Shine & Dine which involved getting local companies, such as Mornington Peninsula Brewery, to help raise awareness and funds for this cause. Along with a plethora of other companies; Commonfolk Coffee, Restaurant Soy and Steeples to name just a few Mornington Peninsula Brewery helped where we could by donating 10% of revenue from the Brew Crew night and asking our loyal Brew Crew to give what they could.
We raised over $200 for the organisation which will help build communities, put girls through school, provide clean drinking water and build houses in the target areas.
Thanks to Liz and all at Free to Shine for shining a light on a subject too often left in the dark.
